Q1: Many International students initially come to the country without knowing too much about this country’s local culture and its people, so can you pls give us a brief ideas of what’s culture and its people are like?

…. Go on with this question,

Q2:Many students come stay in this country and are very anxious about their English and how to communicate with locals, what do we have on plate to help students to overcome the language barriers??

Q3:What’d you say it’s the usual way of meeting with new people and making new friends in this country??

Q4:Is there any ‘no-no’ in socializing with locals in this country? Like for example, questions Chinese students should not ask, should not mention??

Q5:Most of new students 1st come here will choose to stay in student accommodation, but there are a few are not able to secure a room in the 1st place,

is there any options you can offer to them? Kupe Radio Station believe International office could be helpful in creating diversification within some flat, therefore, offering a English-speaking and international living environments for the Chinese students. For example. When I started my 1st yr in union, I stayed in Kelvin hall street, where initially I shared flat with 3 other CHINESE students, I was very upset with the arrangement as I clearly stated in my accommodation application that I’d like to share flat with International students.

Q6:The bigger proportion of students here do 1 yr Master course, I know the course is quite heavily structured, many previous students feel difficulty of getting on with the workload, esp at the beginning. We are aware that International office offer seminars in how to prepare dissertation, etc. But wonder what’s new plan for this term? Any things planned for the beginning of the term? Otherwise, can you give a brief idea of whats the office offer to facilitate students during the year anyway?

Q7: After settle down, many students are willing to work part time alone with studying. Is there any rules or regulation towards Chinese students working in Britain? Is there any channels students can use to apply for part-time jobs? We knowledge that some of the employers ask for a confirmation letter saying – Although Chinese nationalities don’t have work permit or belong to EU, while during holding their student visa, they still are able to work part time, presumably less than 20 hrs a week??

Q8:Can you explain the function of international student office, and on what matters that students will be advised to contact you at 1st place?

Q9: Visa stolen/ lost, what international office do to help us?

Q10:Travelling within U.K. and outside of UK. Many students have the confusion over applying travelling visa matters, can you explain what they should do in order to obtain the visa, or anything the international office will be able to help? Like any confirmation letters?

Q11:many students are interested in fresh talent scheme, can you give a bit of idea of what it is, and what does to Chinese students, as well as application procedure?

Q12: Is there any program/ org that the office is aware will be able to give some help in funding /scholarship?

Q13: What students can do once they graduate from Glasgow if they want to keep in touch the University??

Q14: for students come with partner or children, what plans does office have to help the spouse is to quicker used to the English speaking environment?

Q15: If I have dispute over exam results, attendance which can affect the Visa extension, can I come to seek advice from the office?
